Ramon Pineda

Born and raised in New York City to Salvadorean parents, I grew up listening to all styles of music. As a kid and teenager I always loved music but never knew I had it in me to play keyboard. Inspired by my friend Samuel Hines may he always rest in peace and his dad, I caught jazz fever in my late teens! visiting his home was so soothing to the soul as I would walk in and the air would be filled with the sweet sounds of contemporary and classical jazz artists like David Sanborn, Spyro gyra,Najee,Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane to name just a few. My friend Sammy as we called him would play by ear to all these great jazz artists on his keyboard and I of course wanted to emulate him by getting a keyboard of my own and replicating what he did.
Fast forward to the present, I play keyboard by ear also as I never learned how to read music as my 8 yr. old son Michael Pineda does. Yet thanks to God I can play what I form in my mind and thanks to modern technology I can capture these sounds and save it in many forms. With the support of my Trinidadian wife Vernessa Pineda and my son Michael Pineda I have the confidence and courage to continue on my quest to bring a little bit of happiness and pleasure through my songs to people's souls.
